Why Invest in a Custom Suit? Whats the Difference?

All,

I have been asked this question by several people over the past month why is a custom suit so great? Whats the difference other then it fits a little better??

I just made a suit for a friend and client that I am really proud to show off with his permission.

This suit to the eye may look like a typical plane navy suit. As previously mentioned in this blog, navy is everyone's best color. Its great for speaking engagements or when you need to seem inviting because the color of the suit actually makes your skin tone glow.

I want to point out a few features that make this suit custom and a one of a kind!! First off. The fit. This suit will not tug, pull, or wear in strange places because it is made to my clients measurements.

As you can see, I added a "ticket pocket" as a feature for this client. The ticket pocket is a small feature that is very beneficial to a gentleman. Women carry purses, men wear coats. A gentleman should be able to carry everything they need in their coat pockets. Therefore, NO Blackberry's ON CLIPS!!

Functional Button Holes

The true mark of a custom suit is functional button holes. This feature allows the client to unbutton the front button for more breathability and for ease when at the computer. Also, I think it looks great!

Personalized Touches

Every custom suit I do I put the customers name in the jacket. It reads, "This garment was specifically made for clients name" Its a nice touch and is a great conversation starter! Also, a bit of free advertising for my business.

You can also see all the additional pockets added on the inside of the jacket.

The lining my client chose was a top of the line pink lining. This is a way to make a navy suit you own. When he wears this jacket it will look like a traditional navy solid suit. But if he were to take it off while at dinner, people would notice that this is a one of a kind, unique garment.

On all of my suits, I add a sweat liner in the arm pit area. While its not common place to talk about another mans "sweaty pits" it is a nice feature that adds to the life of the jacket. As I assume this jacket will be warn both as a suit and also as a sport coat, I wanted to make sure this was a very durable garment.

Point Stitching
It is difficult to see in this picture however I added point stitching to the outer edges of the lapel. This feature is a great way to spruce up a common suit such as this.

SIDE VENTS

Almost every suit you pick up from a department store has a center cut vent. A trend in the custom clothing market is the addition of a side vent. The look is unique and a great feature to try out!

PANTS

I put a v-cut in the back of all the pants I make. The reason for this is to gain extra comfort. It seems strange but the cut in the back actually allows for added give when sitting down or walking. The waist band will actually move with you as you change positions throughout the day.

Heel Guards

On the back of the pants I always include heel guards to ward off the inevitable tear that every gentleman gets after they step on their pants. This little strip of cloth actually goes a long way to ensure lasting quality out of all of my garments.

Everyone should try a custom suit once in their life. Please feel free to call or email if you have any questions!!

Thanks for reading and have a great holiday!!

7 Ways to Wear A Sport Coat

All,

I get a lot of grief when I suggest a sport coat. Many people say "I am not 90, why do I need a sport coat?"

To that I say FALSE!! The sport coat can be and is a very fashionable item. My company has given several suggestions that I would like to pass along.

I personally have as many sport coats as suits simply for their versatility. You can always be mixing up the slacks, shoes, coats, ties, etc. You have many many more options to stretch your wardrobe with a sport coat!!

Its time to ditch the "blue blazer" you got when you went to college and upgrade to a more sophisticated option for your less formal events!!
